Is That Like Large Shrimp?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/stevedenning\/2011\/09\/12\/the-ten-happiest-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Forbes published a list <\/a>of the 10 Happiest Jobs.\u00a0 It followed publication of their list of the 10 Most Hated Jobs.\u00a0 The only thing about the Forbes' list that really shocked me was that \"author\" didn't rank as the #1 Happy Job.\u00a0 That's where it would place on my list.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What was the biggest difference in the happy and the unhappy list? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/stevedenning\/2011\/09\/12\/the-ten-happiest-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Forbes says<\/a>\u00a0\"One set of jobs feels worthwhile, while in the other jobs, people can\u2019t see the point.\"\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are the 10 happiest jobs:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Clergy:\u00a02. Firefighters:\u00a03. Physical therapists:\u00a04. Authors:\u00a05.\u00a0 Special education teachers: 6. Teachers: 7. Artists: 8. Psychologists: 9. Financial services sales agents: 10. Operating engineers.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the 10 most hated jobs:<\/p>\n<p>1. Director of Information Technology: 2. Director of Sales and Marketing; 3. Product Manager; 4. Senior Web Developer; 5. Technical Specialist; 6. Electronics Technician; 7. Law Clerk; 8. Technical Support Analyst; 9. CNC Machinist; 10. Marketing Manager.<\/p>\n<p>If I had to put on my Swami Hat - and in this blog, I do, I really do - then I'd guess that what makes the\u00a0happy list\u00a0are jobs that give workers\u00a0freedom to exercise independent judgment in a creative way.\u00a0 Every job on the happy list does just that.\u00a0 On the other hand, the jobs on the unhappy list \u00a0are tasks that are fairly rigid in their requirements and don't allow room for independence or personality.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I still say that Forbes got it wrong.\u00a0 The happiest job in the universe has to be working as a\u00a0full time author.\u00a0You get complete independence and creative control and if something isn't going the way you like - you just re-write it.<\/p>\n<p>You know what?\u00a0 I'm sure Forbes got it wrong. Author should be #1.\u00a0 I DEMAND A RECOUNT.... especially if we get to go to Florida for it.\u00a0 My eldest is in school in the City where Mickey Mouse lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Recount, anyone?
